The caravan for the 16 Days of Activism campaign took a meaningful turn on December 7, 2017, as we visited notable members of the Bonakanda Community in Buea. This initiative was made possible through the collaboration of Hope Advocates Africa, a partner of the Martin Luther King Jr. Foundation (LUKMEF) Cameroon. Our mission is to promote sustainable development by fighting against all forms of violence against women and girls.
This year’s theme for the 16 Days of Activism is “Leave No One Behind: End Violence Against Women and Girls.” During our community visit, we discussed critical issues such as psychological and physical violence, women’s and girls’ rights, and the referral network for support services available to survivors of gender-based violence (GBV).
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to HRH Chief Ndongo Molonge of Bonakanda for his role as a gender activist, mobilizing his community and allowing us to share our message. Special thanks also go to Caryn Dasah, Founder and Executive Director of Hope Advocates Africa, and Mr. Nkemju Rosevelt for their invaluable support in making this outreach successful.
The 16 Days of Activism campaign is part of a three-year project aimed at ending violence against women and girls across six regions in Cameroon: North West, South West, East, Littoral, West, and Centre. This initiative is supported by funding from the United Nations Trust Fund.
Together, we can create a safer environment for women and girls. Let’s continue to advocate for their rights and ensure that no one is left behind.
